CSK comfortably beaten as they lose their 5th game of the season

Rayudu’s brilliant knock in vain as CSK came were convincingly beaten by Delhi Daredevils on a slow-paced feroz shah Kotla pitch.

Chasing 163, CSK got off to a cautious start. Watson and Rayudu were going at a run a ball until Rayudu took off and took Avesh Khan to the cleaners. Watson never looked settled and he departed after a short stay. Raina was soon sent back to the pavillion and the Delhi Daredevils were slowly turning on the screws on the scoring rate. Once Rayudu departed, the game slipped further away from CSK. Even the ever impressive Dhoni looked out of sorts as CSK ended up comfortably short of Delhi’s total.

After being asked to bat first, Delhi got off to a slow start courtesy of some excellent bowling from Lungi Ngidi and Deepak Chahar. Skipper, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant stitched a useful 54-run partnership. Just when Delhi looked to kick on from there, a flurry of wickets followed and Delhi Daredevils were reeling at 97-5. They were set for a low score until Harshal Patel decided to take things in his own hands. Vijay Shankar provided able support for him at the other end. Harshal Patel scored 4 sixes off the last over from Dwayne Bravo to take Delhi over the 160 mark.

CSK’s batting lineup had a rare failure in a run chase. Ambati Rayudu looked in great touch and his form will be crucial heading into the playoffs. Bowlers had a good outing except Bravo with Lungi Ngidi being the brightest of them all.

What’s next for CSK?

CSK face KXIP up next at Pune in the last game before the play-offs. MS Dhoni and his men will look to bounce back and seal the second spot.
